President’s Message

Vermont Seniors Golf Association – 2025 Reflections & A Bold Vision for 2026

CHEERS TO A NEW YEAR!

As we wrap up an extraordinary season, I’m thrilled to share this annual message—a blend of gratitude, pride, and genuine excitement for what lies ahead. Our 2025 chapter was memorable, and 2026 has the potential to be one of our finest years yet.

2025 Season in Review: Highlights & Triumphs

This past year, the Vermont Seniors Golf Association thrived with energy, camaraderie, and a renewed passion for the game. We welcomed new members from across Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire, while strengthening the relationships that make this association such a close-knit community.

Our tournaments took us to some of Vermont’s most stunning courses—whether navigating the fairways of Vermont National (watch out for those buried cows in the greens Nicklaus left behind!) or teeing off at the iconic Ekwanok, where our legacy began in 1935.

Attendance was robust, competition was fierce yet friendly, and the sportsmanship on display made me proud at every turn. A special congratulations to all our tournament champions, especially Greg Wells, our 2025 overall champion, and to everyone who celebrated personal milestones along the way.

To our dedicated board, tireless volunteers, and supportive club partners: you are the backbone of our success. Thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment!

Community Impact & Giving Back

In 2025, our commitment to supporting young golfers remained strong. Thanks to your generosity, we contributed more than $5,000 to the VGA Scholarship Fund, making us the largest single sponsor for Vermont’s next generation of golf talent.

Every dollar helps open doors for promising young players. Thank you for being part of this meaningful mission and for making a lasting difference in the future of the game.

Looking Ahead to 2026: New Adventures Await

Get ready for a year of exciting developments and elevated experiences!

We have fully migrated our website, membership management, and tournament operations to Golf Genius. Embrace the new platform with us—it’s designed to make registration and event participation smoother and more intuitive.

Annual dues remain just $50, and our Goldstar Members (age 80+) continue to play for free—please remember to renew each year to stay active.

“Top 10 by 10” – A Premier Tournament Experience

In 2026, we’re prioritizing quality over quantity. Instead of adding more events, we’re curating unforgettable days at Vermont’s finest private and classic venues. You’ll play the state’s top 10 courses by October.

Highlights include:

  • Opening the season at Vermont National

  • Visits to Manchester CC, Dorset Field Club, and Burlington CC

  • Our two-man event returning to Orleans

  • The annual championship at Neshobe—unbeatable value!

  • A hopeful return of our prestigious Founders Tournament at Ekwanok in late summer or early fall

We’re also excited for:

  • A two-day Quechee Four-Ball Challenge (Lakeland → Highlands)

  • A July stop at Montcalm

  • Potential additions of Rutland, Fox Run, and—if the stars align—the Country Club of Vermont

If you have connections at CCV, we’d truly appreciate your help in bringing them aboard!

State Matches, Fundraisers & More

Expect:

  • State-vs-state Ryder Cup-style matches with Connecticut and New Hampshire

  • Our annual VGA Scholarship Fundraiser at Proctor Pittsford in late August

  • Invitationals, blind-team events, a season-long points race, and new opportunities to connect with fellow members

Our goal is simple: create incredible golf experiences while strengthening the friendships that define this association.

Membership: The Heartbeat of Our Success

Everything we accomplish is powered by your passion and participation. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your sportsmanship, and your commitment to our shared mission.

Don’t hibernate this winter—stay connected, swap stories, and get ready for a season full of camaraderie and competition. Help us grow by inviting friends or regular playing partners to join. Send us their email addresses, and we’ll extend a personal welcome and keep them informed.

On behalf of the board, I wish you and your loved ones a year filled with health, happiness, and unforgettable moments both on and off the course. I can’t wait to share the fairways, the friendly rivalries, and the laughter with you in 2026. If all goes well, you’ll see me teeing it up at every event!
